UrbanBike.

UrbanBike provides a bike rental service, operating across UK cities. The purpose of this explainer video is to introduce UrbanBike and explain the service it provides.

Many explainer videos use a voiceover to present a message to an audience. This video for UrbanBike is a great example of how using a voiceover is not essential. A message can be presented effectively by using animated illustrations and on-screen text (and a funky soundtrack, of course!).

our process

  • Artwork for motion design

    Artwork

After devising a plan for this project, it was time to produce some artwork. We chose a relatively simple colour scheme and identified a suitable style before completing a variety of still frames.

  • Animation Storyboard

    Storyboard

We used the artwork to produce a storyboard. This is a crucial step for any production as it allows us to plan and visualise exactly how the final video will look before undergoing any animation.

  • Character rigging and animation

    Rigging & Animation

Effectively rigging the characters means providing them with a skeletal structure. This constrains them to realistic movements and helps streamline the animation process.
